Getting a Real Estate License
The practice of real estate is regulated by state licensing laws and rules administered by the Maine Real Estate Commission.
The first step in getting your real sales agent license is to take the required 55-hour Sales Agent course. The course includes quizzes, homework and a final exam. You must pass this course with a grade of 75% or better. After that, you are requried to pass a state exam with a grade of 75% or better.
Your license is only issued through a licensed company (agency) and is non-renewable. During the your two year licensing term you are required to complete a sixty hour Associate Broker Course.
Additional details regarding the licensing process are available at the Maine Real Estate Commission website and available courses at the Arthur Gary School of Real Estate website.
